My email is always listed at the top ([email protected]) of my website! The homework page is also a blog and students can post questions below each section.
In general, my homework policy is that students will take home work if they did not finish it in class. There will be more at-home work during projects. I do not tend to send a lot of French work home, as most of it is oral and we do it in class where the students have access to me if they need help or have questions. :) I do expect that work assigned for home or bringing back letters, etc, be finished and handed in either the next day (for small assignments) or, when specified, by the due date. I recognize that students often have extra-curricular activities. When/if there are days in the week where a student has activities back-to-back and might have difficulty completing homework that specific day, I will work with the student to find a solution. In general, I like to work with students to help them manage their time so they can learn how to do their homework, even on busy days. I believe that learning time management is an essential skill for all people, and one that will become ever more important as they grow older! :) Of course, surprise trips to see grandmothers or unexpected events do happen, and where there is a valid reason, I encourage students to simply talk to me the following morning to let me know why they didn't finish their homework. When students forget to do their work or forget their work at home, they will get a few reminders at first, and I will work with them to help create strategies that might help them remember. Finally, please SIGN (or initial) your child's agenda every day, so that I know you have read the agenda. I request this because then I know you have an (/some) idea of what we have done in class every day! :) Merci!
My general rule of thumb is that if a child wants to eat, then that child needs to bring something to contribute. It seems a fair way to ensure that everyone helps. I do my best to encourage healthy eating, so I ask for no pop or chips. Fruits, veggies or HOMEMADE baked goods are all more than welcome. :)
Our class is a nut free zone, so there should be no nuts or peanuts in any of the product. Also, if there are any eggs in your product, please be sure to let your child know as we have one student who needs to know about eggs. This is a school rule: NO cell phones or other electronic devices will be allowed to be used at recess or lunch or at any time during the day, unless express permission is given by the teacher.
Parents, please note that cell phones or other electronic devices should be on vibrate and stored in your child's backpack between 8:40 and 2:32 while not in-use during teacher-supervised in-class activities. Merci. Did you forget your dictionary? Visit Word Reference at this site: http://www.wordreference.com/enfr/ .

In this class, we use a 4 point marking criteria:
Exceeds Expectations, Fully Meets Expectations, Minimally Meets Expectations, Not Yet Meeting Expectations. I have translated this scale into French. Dépasse = D Satisfait Entièrement = SE Satisfait de façon Minimal = SM Pas encore = P Therefore, a 'D' represents Exceeds Expectations and is a good mark! :) |
