le mardi 5 - Anja le mercredi 6 - Hudson le jeudi 7 - Tadhg le mardi 12 - Avery le mercredi 13 - Trevor le jeudi 14 - Amelie le vendredi 15 - Tina NOTE: le vendredi 15 is OUR TURN for BAKESALE!!!! :) I request students dress nicely for this assembly to show our respect for our visiting Veterans.
Thank you. Pet Day was a huge success! Thank you to our parents and our furry, scaly and cute friends!!
ouaf, ouaf!! :) Our next little project, in our next unit "mon alimentation," requires students to have labels or pictures (from the internet) of every part of every meal/snack during an average day. For example, for my dinner (I know dinners vary from day to day. Perhaps students can pick an 'ideal' dinner?), I might have spaghetti. I would need a box/bag of the noodles, a label from the spaghetti sauce and pictures of parmesean cheese, garlic and onion (since I add the last two to any sauce). I could also include a bread label if I also eat bread with my spaghetti.
I am letting everyone know now because I realize that it can take time to collect all these food labels/packaging! Please collect the labels and keep them at home. I hope to start this project by the end of next week. Note: Labels are better than heavy jars. For example, perhaps students can cut out the 'Dairyland' label off the milk jug, rather than bring the whole milk jug in. Glass jars are too heavy, so perhaps the label can be peeled off? Thank you! Please see below for an example of the project. Today, students need to finish the descriptions of their aunts/uncles and cousins. I will collect this tomorrow.
Over the next few weeks, students will be writing their final book "album de famille" and doing their t-shirts to hang in class. I hope to have the students do as much of the writing at school as possible. For example, we worked on it all afternoon, today, after Silent Reading. This means that colouring and drawing of the pictures for the album will go home, as students do not need my help for colouring. Students have been, and will continue, to work hard on their writing and oral French in class. Drawing will be sent home. I hope this makes sense. I do not want you to think that all your students are doing is colouring! :) Due to our Pro-D on Friday, November 8, our school assembly for Remembrance Day will be Thursday, Nov. 7 at 9:15.
In our class, there will also be activities and discussions relating to this day. Students are encouraged to bring photos or any other 'souvenirs' that the family may have. For example, I have family medals that I can show, as well as some stuff from my brother. In the past, I have seen such items as pictures, albums, parts of uniforms, medals, etc. Thank you. I would like to have the students bring in their dog/cat/bird (or an animal in cage or on a leash) to describe in class in French. We did this last year, and it worked well.
I wanted to give the information out last week, but it took some time to confirm with Surrey School District that this would be allowed, given their new bylaw regarding dogs on school ground. This will be the first thing we do on Wednesday morning. Students will have a chance to speak about their pet in French. The pets will then need to go home. I debated about what day to hold this event. I wanted to hold the event Tuesday, but given that we just got confirmation today, Tuesday is too soon. Friday morning, students have math first thing and Thursday is Hallowe'en. This leaves, therefore, only Wednesday morning. So, please plan to bring your pet to school for the start of the day, Wednesday. Thank you! lundi - Cam
mardi - Aksel mercredi - Dianna jeudi - Grace (c'est l'Halloween!!!) vendredi - Wayne I now have all the Interims photocopied for student files and the originals will come home with students today. Have a good long weekend! :)
