The Dream House is now due Thursday. Students need to practice their French Musical song "Le travail est facile" and write an index card with the words from pages 1 - 3 and make a notation that pages 2 - 3 will be repeated. So, we will be singing page 1, 2, 3, 2, 3. They sound great! :)

I have been trying to post an updated version of our morning calendrier on weebly for a week now, but am having trouble doing so. If you want an updated copy, please feel free to email me :)
I am very impressed by the enthusiasm and hard work that students are demonstrating with regards to their Dream Houses. I am also impressed by the variety of methods students are using to create their houses! I cannot wait till they are finished!
Bravo! lundi - Makayla
mardi - Lucas mercredi - Adam jeudi - Luke vendredi - Krisha Students are enthusiastically working on their Dream Houses, even as we are practicing our prepositions in class! They are looking good! I am hoping to have these projects done by next Tuesday, or so. Students will need to do some work on their houses this weekend. If students need more time, I told them we can discuss it in class Monday. :)
A shoe box will be needed as well as a handful of cotton balls for December. The shoe box will not be useable again to store shoes in, FYI :)
We are going to spend a week doing a quick unit on a Dream House. This will be an excellent opportunity to practice household vocabulary and, importantly, prepositions.
Students need to make (draw/collage of images from the internet/magazines or make a model) of a dream house. Students need to continue to gather food labels. We will begin that project next week, instead of this week. Once students have all their food labels, they can wrap them up in a plastic bag, with their NAME clearly written on it, and leave it in a box in the class. Each house must have two floors (using two 11x17 pieces of paper as a 'bird's eye view') or, if there is a model, two shoes boxes stacked on each other, for example. Everything in the drawing/collage or model has to be labelled (we will work on the vocabulary together). There will also be a small writing assignment which will allow students to use their prepositions. Each house needs at least: 1 - une cuisine 1 - une salle de bain (or, 1 - une toilette and 1 - une salle de bain in the manner of French houses) 1 - une chambre à coucher 1 - un salon 1 - un escalier 1 - un jardin (or something outside. A garden, garage, swing set, etc). Students are free to add any other items to their dream house, such as slides, decorations, pools, bowling alleys, skating rinks etc. After all, a dream house should be a dream! :) Tomorrow we are going to the CPF Film at Guildford Cinemas. We leave the school at 9:30 and parents who are picking up students need to be at the cinema for 12:00 as that is when the film leaves.
As a reminder, no food or drink (excepting bottles of water) are allowed in the cinema. As students will be missing their recess snacks, I encourage them to eat an extra large, healthy breakfast tomorrow morning to tide them over till lunch. We will miss outdoor time for lunch, but, of course, students will have ample time to eat once they return to the school. The title should be "Album de famille: Les (insert last name)". The cover, completely coloured, is due Tuesday. We will glue the book together Tuesday.
Also, as a reminder, Wednesday is our trip to the cinema to watch "Un monstre à Paris." Enjoy your long weekend. I hope you will all take a minute of silence at 11:00 on Monday. |
