In an effort to remain organised, students are using cups from hot lunch, taped to their desk, to use as a pencil jar. While I applaud these efforts, the plastic cups are so lightweight that they fall off the desk, spilling pens and pencils everywhere. After weeks, the tape on the desk becomes gross and probably germ infected.
I have requested, therefore, that if students wish to use a pencil jar, it must be of heavy plastic (like a dollar store item) or metal. Students can simply use a can, wash it out (making sure there are no sharp edges) and use that, if they wish. The cans will be heavy enough not to topple off the desks anytime someone walks by.
Thank you. :)
